SAVIORSELF

I hadn't played guitar for two years. My guitar tech Dan Garber forced his acoustic on me. I wrote the opening mellow part of the song Saviorself that day. Alan was talking to me again (Thanks Al!) ....hmmm. Should we write some new songs and put out a reunion cd? Tim Gilles from Big Blue Studios insisted. Ed and Scott (Who was all the way in Dallas) were up to it. I called Tom who asked "How much money will I get"......I don't know Tom, I don't even know if I can get us a deal. He asked me to make him some tapes of new songs, but he never had time to rehearse. On April 1 1998 he told me his band was about to sign a major label deal in 3-6 months. I heard they broke up shortly after that. Alan and I asked Alan's roomate Dave if he wanted to jam. I thought the first rehearsal was a little funky, but Ed and Alan thought Dave had potential. We rehearsed almost 10 times (Rehearsing is boring, you either have it or you don't). Alan and I (Dan) flew to Dallas ( boy were our arms tired) to jam the new material with Scott (You remember him from our first cd, right?) . We went into Big Blue. I think Dave did every song first take (As I do.....get it together Fuhrman). I asked my old friend John Bomma, who was actually my vocalist in 1980 to sing The Our Father. Now all we needed was a deal. Gabby Feliu from Concrete Marketing suggested I send a tape to Brian Slagel. Why? He would never sign us, we're not really a band. Five or six days later Mr. Slagel left a message on the Steppin Out answering machine.......we had our deal!!!!
